Court bailiffs vs debt collectors

There is a difference between a court bailiff, who actually has authority from a court order and debt collectors who don't. Court bailiffs are also called county Sheriffs and have the authority of the high court behind them, after a case from the high court has ruled that you owe a debt. They are allowed into your property to take stock of your goods, on their first visit, which will stop you from selling any items to hide them from the court.

Debt collectors on the other hand have simply bought a debt, with no authority except that which you give them if you allow them into your home. They usually come from the kangaroo courts known as the magistrates court. More on this soon. Personally I do not even open my door to them. I live in a block and if someone happens to let them in, which they always do, they get to my door and simply take one look at the notice I have blu-tacked to it and then they don't even bother knocking, they just sell the debt on to another debt collector most likely for less they bought it for, which is usually pennies to the pound value, and take the loss. This makes your debt lower and lower on the priority and value ranking. See the film 'The Big Short' starring Christian Bale for an explanation of this. Also by buying your debt they have already paid it off for you, so if you happen to bump into them, thank them for this before telling them to look at the notice on your door and/or to leave.
Here is the notice I use reproduced for you:

The thing I should mention here is that I don't own a car or motorcycle, so I don't have to worry about them trying anything with that, although there are ways around it, ways of protecting your property and ways of recovering your property, more on the latter soon (also see my page 'Protecting Your Car')

They need a court order to get a notice of enforcement unless they are HMRC according to their ridiculous rules (but they can't get one if you have offered to pay conditionally, aka a conditional acceptance, see my page of that same name, in the index, for an in depth explanation of this). But that would mean this bailiff has gone to court. Either way they also need a deed of assignment to be transferred the debt from the principal. Also if they have a warrant this must be bonded so I'd ask to see the affidavit attached to the warrant. If there's no bond that basically means they're not insured if they enter your home and break something so damages would come out of their pocket when you sue them. Not that I'd answer the door. Another good resource in regards to Bailiffs is

This site even shows how bailiffs use fake warrants (and examples) that they have printed up themselves to scare people into paying. This practice is illegal so they are breaking the law.

If you send this notice to them, that should stop them bothering you at your home, as they don't want to incurr a £5000 fine enforceable in court:

List of Debt Collectors Adresses

Personally i've been visited by a few different debt collectors, but since i've put the notice on my door (displayed for download on this page) they rarely knock after reading it any more. If they ever send me letters, i just write on the envelope 'No contract - return to sender', (which i have even used for a so called "criminal case" but it didn't go to the high court, so i just see it as an offer to contract, more about contracts coming soon, probably on a new page i'll add along with info about different types of debt and how to remove them from your credit report too)  i keep having to waste time looking up the address on the back of any envelopes i receive in the post first though, (on Presearch so that i earn crypto currency for searching). So here's a list debt collectors, i or others have had notices from, for my own and others' benefit:
